A second term to continue the institution's development

Anne-Lucie Wack has been renewed in her position as Director General of Institut Agro for a five-year term starting 5 January 2026. This is her second mandate leading the institution (Decree of 29 December 2025, published in the french Official Journal of 30 December 2025).

Continuous commitment since the institution's founding

Anne-Lucie Wack, Chief General Engineer of Bridges, Waters and Forests, has led Institut Agro since its creation on 1 January 2020.
Under her leadership, Institut Agro has established itself as a major player in higher education and research in agriculture, food and the environment.
The institution now comprises 6,000 students, 1,400 staff members, 6 campuses, 35 research units and a consolidated budget of €150 million.

A career dedicated to higher education, research and international cooperation

Before leading Institut Agro, Anne-Lucie Wack directed Montpellier SupAgro for seven years (2013-2020) and chaired the Conférence des Grandes Écoles for three consecutive terms (2015-2021). She previously founded and directed the Agropolis Foundation (2007-2013) and worked at CIRAD from 1988 to 2007 as Head of Strategic Projects, the agri-food programme and research units.
She has served on numerous national and international advisory and funding bodies, including the French Higher Education and Research Summit steering committee (2012) and the National Higher Education Strategy Committee (2014-2015). She currently serves on the Boards of IRD and Institut Mines-Télécom.
A graduate of AgroParisTech with a PhD in process engineering, she trained in management at INSEAD. She is a member of the French Academy of Technologies and Academy of Agriculture, Knight of the Legion of Honour, Officer of the National Order of Merit (promoted to Commander in July 2025), Commander of Agricultural Merit and Knight of Arts and Letters.

Major challenges ahead

This new term will enable continued development of Institut Agro to train the engineers and managers needed by agricultural and food sectors facing climate and environmental transitions, while advancing research excellence on major contemporary issues.
